For Rest, Relaxation and Motivation, Try Playing Video Games

By Philip Woods

If you have a stressful life, then you probably look forward to things that let you relax and forget about your busy day. Playing video games can be beneficial because the games can distract your mind and help you forget about your worries. Sometimes, having fun is the best way to keep your mind off of work and other demands that come with fast paced lifestyles and video games are a way to give yourself a break.

It's like you enter another world, when you play video games, which can be refreshing and makes you forget all about the things that have bothered you throughout the day. Stress that bothers you in real life seems to disappear, when you are focusing on something else. It helps you to forget all about that demanding boss or making it home in time to get dinner ready for the kids. You have less time to dwell on the stressful situations when your mind is focused on something else.

Resting your mind and body is important if you expect to have a clear mind for problem-solving, whether it is at work or at home. Things that are troubling you can be easily forgotten for awhile when you are playing video games and concentrating on something else, like winning.

Video games let you feel in charge, depending on the role playing involved with the game. The take-charge hero is a good role for those that are dealing with stressful situations, and it can help you feel in control of your life by taking control of other things, such as your character and the situation in the video game.

Video games serve the same purpose for children, which is why they like them so well. It can help them adjust and fit in with others, even though they are shy or not as popular as other kids. The sense of power and control can boost their confidence levels and help them cope and face reality. They can find new friends who have the same interests by playing video games with them.

Video games can improve concentration because focusing on the game helps them win, which they can adapt to school work and other things they will encounter in everyday life. Results that are achieved through video games can carry through to other parts of their lives.

The sense of accomplishment is a benefit that children and adults both get from playing video games. The more levels of a game they master, the better they feel about mastering situations in their real life, which can build confidence. Feeling good about yourself can help you handle situations you face every day.

Mentally challenging video games seem more plentiful today and they challenge the user to become more skilled. Patience and perseverance comes with each level that gets more difficult to master, but practice makes perfect, which is a good lesson for children and adults.

When you play a video game you are not only taking yourself to another world, but you can actually feel as though you are a part of this other world. This is what makes video games so popular. They transport you to another time and place. Leaving behind problems and stress for a while and entering another place and time can benefit everyone now and again.
