Pool Tables For Your Home: What's Your Choice?

By Matthew Kerridge

Pool tables are a great source of fun to have inside your home. While many pool players enjoy hanging out at the local pool hall or the local pub, there are many families who enjoy playing the game in their own home. Pool tables can be found in different sizes and models, and can be a great addition to your home's entertainment activities.

The first and most easily maneuverable is the mini pool table. These are usually no longer than 48 inches and can be either a stand up unit or a table top unit. These mini pool tables can supply hours of fun for kids and adults alike. The balls, the cue sticks, and the table are all scaled down models of an actual pool table.

You can find mini pool tables that also include other games, such as air hockey and football. These mini pool tables are relatively inexpensive, with some of the smaller versions going for under $10. Depending on what you prefer and who is going to be using the game, there is also a choice of table top play or standing tables.

When looking for a pool table for your home, it is important to keep in mind where you are going to be putting the pool table. Pool tables can be anywhere from 6 to 12 feet long, and the size you choose could very well depend on where it is going. Making sure the area around where the table is to go is free of obstacles and walls are always recommended. There is nothing more annoying in a game of pool than not being able to take a shot because there is something behind you affecting your shot.

When buying a pool table it is possible to get a little stylish too. While most pool tables have a green felt covering, you can get red and other colors as well. When ordering a custom table you may want to check with the manufacturer to see what colors are available.

There are also many pool tables you can get that have other features. For example, you can buy a pool table that also turns into a kitchen table. It comes with a removable top so when your done eating you just take the top off and you're ready for a game of pool. Like the mini tables, there are also full size tables that can double as ping pong tables or poker tables.

Whether you think you're Willie Mosconi or not, pool tables can be a great fit for many homes. Having enough room and space around the table makes for a game that could afford your family and your guests' hours of fun competition. No matter whether you play for fun or to show your friend you can beat them at something, having a pool table in your home can give you something to do when you're bored or want something to do when company comes over.
